The Lucky Winner...

Congratulations Nicole! I would love to see what you make with all of this great fabric.

I am so amazed by all the entries this week. Thank you guys so much for participating! And a huge thank you again to Jenny for offering such a great giveaway!

...I am off to attempt to get caught up with life. It's been such a long day in the car, but it's really good to be home. I had an amazing weekend in Houston with my family, and Chomper had so much fun playing with his new dog buddies. It was adorable to watch them wrestle and chase each other.

Hope you're all having a great week so far!

iCraft Giveaway.

I'm so glad we have another giveaway here on the blog! This one comes from my wonderful client Jenny Hofer. I admired Jenny's work before I ever worked with her. I feel lucky that she came to me when she needed some custom graphics.

She just opened a new supply shop on Etsy, and I had the pleasure of working with her on a logo and some other designs to get her iCraft Supplies business going. I've worked with Jenny before on the Beacon Hill graphics for her shop that sells fun items for the modern child. Jenny also has a third shop where she sells beautiful bags and knitwear. I don't know how she does it all, but her work is great. I encourage all of you to check out Jenny's shops. I am certain you will find treasures in each.

For the giveaway, one lucky reader will win 7 fat quarters of the gorgeous fabric set you see above. I love Amy Butler's bold and colorful Full Moon Dot print. I can't sew, so I'm hoping that all of you who can will jump on this opportunity. I'm sure you could make many wonderful things with all of this fabric.

Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Since I will be in Houston for a bit of a long weekend, I'm going to extend this giveaway through Tuesday. I will announce the winner when I get home Tuesday evening. Good luck everyone!

Have a great weekend!

[I'm off to pack...]

A Lovely Bit of Vintage.

I truly don't know how these all came together so perfectly. I wanted to do a post featuring vintage Etsy finds. I had no idea how many amazing shops I would find! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

So Excited...

...to be heading home to Houston on Friday! Chomper and I are taking our first road trip together so he can meet the fam. He is most excited to play with Chaz and Sebastian in my grandparents' huge backyard.

[I am most excited about eating good Greek food, because there's no such thing in Tulsa. And about seeing my family, obviously.]

Ten Dollar Drawings.

I was reading Alicia Carrier's wonderful food blog [bread & honey] and discovered that she also does commissioned artwork. For ten dollars! How awesome is that?! Her 5x7 illustrations are beautiful, and I love that she reuses grocery bags for paper. She has a serious gift for drawing insects. See more on her art blog.

Sketchbook.

I've always been a bit fascinated with fashion design. I remember once [I must've been around twelve] I drew a blank figure, scanned her, and printed pages and pages so I could draw on all of the wonderful outfits I could imagine. I still find myself drawn to shapes, silhouettes, and colors in fashion images and the often dramatic expression in a model's body language. This might explain why one of my favorite lessons in my life drawing class was quick gestural studies. I love that a few deliberate lines can say so much.

Above are a few sketches I've done recently just for fun. This little series is a nice outlet for me when I get stressed.

House Crush.

[Scans from here. Original photos from Domino magazine.]

Is it possible to have a crush on a house? Because I think I just about fell in love when I saw this airy Hawaiian escape in the March issue of Domino. It's bright, comfy, and sprinkled throughout with teal blue accents. Aqua shelves, pool blue doors, turquoise tea cups... I was dying as I flipped through the pages. To owners Pippa and Richard Imrie, I am smitten with your style.

All I can say is Amy works magic with polymer clay. The colors in her new Megan line are my absolute favorites for spring. Don't these fresh pieces make you dream of lounging by the pool while sipping lemonade?

Knickers and Lace.

I think these "Knickers & Lace" prints from BluePumpkinJuice are so so so cute. I probably shouldn't make this public knowledge, but I have a small addiction to cute undies. I'm working really hard to control it. Perhaps you can direct me to a support group?

Looking at these, I can't help but think of my uber-skinny friend Billea who used to run around our sorority house dressed in just as little. Sorry if that conjures up certain mental images. It just makes me laugh. There were no boys allowed in our house for a reason.

[Also please notice the teeny tiny butt freckles. Hah I love it!]

Just Add Green.

Who doesn't love a festively colorful beverage to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? I did a little scientific research [Google counts, right?] to find out just how they get that perfect shade of green into the special St. Patty's Day beer. Turns out it's nothing more than a little food coloring. So simple! Some suggest using blue, which mixed with yellow-ish beer turns it green. Others said anywhere from one to six drops of green food coloring will do the trick. I say, experiment until you get it just right, and leave no evidence of your failed coloring jobs behind. In the end, it does not matter what color your beer was, only that you don't remember it the next morning... or that you had fun... or something like that.

Not a fan of beer? Here are some other equally festive drink recipes, because no one should be left out of the green-drinking-fun!

[Please know that I am not a raging alcoholic. I'm just Catholic.]

The weather this weekend was so much nicer than expected. So nice, we spent Saturday afternoon hanging out at the pond. I snapped some photos while the boys and kids fished. Luke was the little good luck charm, helping everyone get a bite and reel 'em in.
