A new place to store all my little inspirations.

Tumblr won't take the place of this blog. I will just be posting lovely images I would otherwise bookmark or save on my computer and then forget about. Do you have a tumblr site? I'm a little bit addicted already. If you have one, I hope you'll leave the link in the comments. I would love to visit yours.

Scruffy.

This weekend in Kansas we got a pet for a day. He showed up in the hay barn and played with us until his owner came to take him home. Isn't he precious?

Kiel Mead.

I love all of these unique jewelry pieces from kiel mead. Especially the drill bit necklace, which reminds me of my very handy boyfriend [and how I always make him help me with anything involving power tools]. And how cute is the little Christmas light?

A couple I might not wear [but still appreciate for their originality]: the retainer and chewed gum necklaces. The retainer makes me think of those little bronze baby shoes my mom kept from my childhood, except that I don't really want a keepsake to remember crooked teeth and middle school. How about you?

Oh Deer.

Some adorable Etsy finds, inspired by the silly beast that jumped out in front of my car last night, just inches from where Randy screeched to a stopped. I'm so glad he was driving, because this city girl would've have surely hit it. And it was not small. That would have been bad news for the deer and my car. We don't have deer on the Houston highways I learned to drive on. Yeah, I nearly had a heart attack.

Bubbleman.

From the UK Telegraph: 'Bubbleologist' Samsam Bubbleman attempts to set the record for the world's largest free-floating soap bubble

Do you think as a child he told his mom he wanted to be a bubbleologist when he grew up? What a cool job!

Hello!

I swear I haven't gone into hiding this summer, I've just been extremely busy. I just realized I never posted any pictures from my short trip to California and it's been weeks since I returned. Elizabeth and I spent that weekend in Tahoe with her roommate and some other friends. I really wish I could have stayed longer. It was breathtaking. We spent an entire day on a boat, laying in the sun, drinking cheap beer, and jumping in the crystal clear, but frigid water for as long as we could stand it to cool off. Absolutely perfect. I am missing the friends and the scenery already.

I am just finally starting to feel caught up with work, but of course that just means I'll soon have a wave of new projects to tackle [oh, I already do]. But I am so grateful to be self-employed right now, and to have any work to do at all [even if it means the occasional overwhelming week, er.. month]. I love the flexibility and control I have over my time. I feel blessed that people pay me to do what I love. I am a lucky girl.

I just wanted to post a little update since I've been a bit absent from the blog lately. I miss sharing with you guys! I will really try to be better, and hopefully once summer winds down I will have more time. Look for some freebies coming soon, since I finally got some new PDF designs up in the shop this week!

And on a random side-note, I am unbelievably excited to finally see Wicked tomorrow night! I haven't seen a musical in forever [this is the first I've ever dragged Randy to, fingers crossed that he won't hate it] but I love them so much. And I have heard nothing but great things about this show. I'm trying to get through the book before tomorrow night, but I still have a ways to go.

Must Try...

I really want to try out this recipe for homemade Samoas. Girl Scout cookies are my favorite and these look pretty close to [if not better than] the real thing. Yum!!

P.S. I was craving Starbucks but didn't want to kill my afternoon driving into town, so I tried a DIY Frappuccino recipe yesterday and kind of failed miserably, probably due to my eyeballing it, rather than measuring. My liquid to ice ratio was way off. It wasn't bad, just the wrong texture. Here is the recipe I found if you want to try it out. I'm sure you'll have better luck than I did if you actually follow the measurements! Let me know how it turns out and maybe I will try again.

Ingrid Montoya.

I am really loving simple, delicate jewelry pieces right now. Ingrid Montoya's silver pendants make a lovely statement without weighing you down. Doesn't the feather look like it's floating on her neck? Gorgeous.

Shake It.

Hah, aren't these fun?! The boyfriend thinks I'm crazy, but I would totally shake my salt and pepper out of this awesome wooden mustache. Love it.
