Monday Cuteness.

My mom rescued a baby squirrel. Isn't it adorable?! Callie sure seems to think so.

Hope this makes you smile on your Monday morning. After a weekend without internet, I've kind of been dreading Monday, but at least the internet is finally working again, so that's good news.

We spent Saturday cheering for the losing team at the OU-TU football game in Norman, Oklahoma. Our blue shirts were far outnumbered by crimson, but we had fun anyway. Thanks to boredom and no internet on Sunday, my bathroom is now immaculate. I guess that was just the motivation I needed to clean! After my morning of scrubbing and disinfecting, we took Randy's truck out to play in the mud and got ourselves all dirty.

I have a busy busy week ahead. Next weekend I will be visiting my sister and some friends in Virginia and DC. I've never been to either place so I'm really excited! My sister is living in a house off campus at William and Mary. I can't wait to see it and meet all of her friends that I've heard so much about. After the weekend at W&M, I'm catching a train to DC for a few days with my cousin and two friends who all live there. I just found out one of my best friends from high school lives less than a block from one of my best friends from college. Small world and very convenient for visiting!

Hope you all had a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead.

I Hope They Have Email in Heaven.

I found out yesterday I will be making an unexpected trip to Houston for the next few days to celebrate the life of my amazing grandma. I'm still not sure it's sunk in for me yet, but I know it will hit me once I get there. My grandma Hall was the sweetest, most thoughtful person I've ever known. She was a killer poker player. She never let you leave her house without ten pounds of cookies to share with everyone you know. She had a sharp mind and a great sense of humor. She was genuinely interested in knowing what all 12 of her grandchildren were up to, and her eyes lit up every time we visited. Sometimes it was hard to get away from a visit at grandma's or end a phone call with her, because she just loved to talk to us. I never realized how much I will miss all of those visits and chats. I am grateful to have 23 years worth of memories with her.

Not too many grandmas I know are computer-savvy, but mine stayed connected with her friends and family via lots and lots of emails [so many that her overflowing inbox often caused her computer to malfunction]. I loved writing her novel-length emails with everything that was happening here in Tulsa, from puppy training to my Etsy shop. It's weird that I won't be able to send her an update with the click of a button anymore, but I am certain she will be watching over all of us now from above.

Birdy & Me.

Sorry for the image overload. I just love love love Kelly Smith's stunning illustrations this much, I couldn't narrow down my favorites. The detail is exquisite. The contrast between the grayscale portraits and pops of color in the accessories is perfection. I would love to have prints of each and every one of her drawings hanging on my wall. Love.

Kelly has prints available in her Etsy shop, and you can see more of her work on her website flickr.

Hello September.

I cannot believe it's already September.

It's making me really sad, actually. I feel like this summer flew by right before my eyes and it didn't even wave goodbye. Fall is nice and all, I'm just not quite ready for it. But I guess this happens every year. I'm sure once autumn really kicks in I will appreciate it's presence a little more [though I can't say the same for winter. I hate cold weather.], but today I'm digging in my heels and resisting the change of the seasons for as long as I can get away with it. Luckily the weather here is still warm [though noticeably cooler than a month ago] and the sunshine is letting me pretend it's not going anywhere.
