New in the Shop + A Giveaway.

I've revamped the printable paper packs in my shop and added some new sets! I'm offering them as .jpg files now, so they can also be used for digital scrapbooking too and you don't have to print them to use them in your projects.

I'm doing a little giveaway for a free paper pack of your choice, just leave a comment to enter! I'll pick 2 winners next Friday. I may even have some new ones added by then.

Good luck and happy Friday!

A Perfect Fall Weekend.

This weekend we spent a gorgeous Saturday in Kansas admiring the bright yellow autumn leaves,

carving pumpkins with the kids,

chasing down Gramma's kitty for some petting,

and bouncing on the trampoline. Luke loved these shots of himself "flying" in mid-air. Too cute.

State Insects.

I didn't even know states had official insects, but I just love these illustrations by Amy Ruppel. I'm thinking about ordering prints of the Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas bugs shown above. Aren't they gorgeous?

Sneak Peek.

My office/guest room is still a work in progress, but I love how it's coming along. I just took some quick pics with my phone to show my mom, so I thought I'd share them here too.

I made the flag garland by hand using cute scrap fabrics from fabricsupplies on Etsy. I printed out a triangle template, cut several pieces, then mix and matched the backs and fronts so it's reversible. I sewed a piece of cord through the tops of the little flags and tied it up to the curtain rod. It looks so cute with my new quilt and pillow from StarlitNestGifts. Love!

The new white bedding came from Target. Cotton jersey sheets and a down alternative comforter were inexpensive and work perfectly in the room. I also got two new side tables from Target [for just $15 each!] and white curtains from Wal-Mart. This weekend I assembled my new chair and Randy helped me put up some shelves tonight. I don't have an exact budget for this room makeover, but I've been keeping it thrifty so far.

I'm reusing a lot of pieces I already had. I've been spray-painting all my dark frames white, and turned one picture frame into a cute chalkboard by painting the glass with some leftover chalkboard paint from my herb pots project. I also painted a lamp and a few of my owls with white spray paint. The glass jars along my window sill were left in our kitchen cabinet by the previous renters. They've been in there for over a year and I just now found a use for them as storage containers for craft and office supplies.

The wall my desk will face is now my inspiration board. I tied pieces of string to nails along the wall to hang photos, art, and magazine clippings with mini clothespins. It's so much more flexible than frames! I love how easy it is to change it up and move things around whenever I please.

I'm still waiting to see if Randy is allowed to use some of the scrap materials and equipment at work to help me make a desk and bookshelf. If not, I'll have to figure out plan B and either buy them or find some other way to make them. I can't wait to get all my junk organized and off my floor so this room can finally be functional!

[PS. Sorry I've been such a horrible blogger lately. It's been one thing after another here lately and I'm so behind on everything. Blogging just keeps getting pushed to the very end of my to-do list.]

Help.

I know most of you reading this live nowhere near Tulsa, and even if you did it's a pretty big place, but maybe you know someone who does? I am just desperate and don't know what else to do. Chomper has been missing since around 9am. He always demands to go play outside, and usually stays nearby and plays with our neighbors' dogs, but when I noticed he'd been gone for several hours this morning and started looking for him, I got worried. I'm hoping he's just having an adventure and will be home for dinner, but it's not looking that way so far. If any of you reading this happen to be in West Tulsa, please keep an eye out for him. You can email me if you have any info. Thanks!

Room Redo.

Meet my spare bedroom. Also known as my office. Or more recently the guest room. Or most appropriately, the room where we throw all of our junk when company comes over and shut the door so they think we are tidy and neat.

Last summer, shortly after we moved into our rental house, the office was fairly organized and I was quite happy to have a space of my own to work during the day. The boys have the garage, this room is all mine. Back then, it looked like this:

Nothing special but it worked for the time. Most of the furniture was left behind by Randy's old roommate in their last house. The desk is falling apart. Nothing matches. But it was free and available.

At least all of my stuff [and I have a lot of it!] was somewhat organized into wire storage cubes from my college dorm.

And this chair was my favorite part. It's nothing fancy, but I put it together myself. Now it's been moved to the living room and is where I usually do my work these days. [I'm sitting in it as I type!]

So, my office was pretty great and I spent most of my day in there until...

this dude came along. Chomper could not be trusted in there with so many fun things to chew on, and he whined and howled if I put him in his crate in the living room and went into my office to work.

So my solution was just to move my office into the living room, so I could keep my eye on him and he wouldn't eat all my stuff. And by office, I mean myself and my laptop, and eventually my chair when the dog started chewing on the chair Randy made, so we had to move that out of the living room before he did any serious damage.

And after months of working in the living room, moving our extra bed into the office for friends to crash on, and ultimately forgetting this room existed, it had come to look like this:

Um, gross. I'm embarrassed that I'm even showing these on my blog. I'm only posting them because it no longer looks this disastrous.

As of this morning, [after lots of cleaning and three coats of paint] the room now looks like this:

Ok, not a huge improvement yet, but certainly a step in the right direction! I love brown, but the color on the walls was suffocating. It's a small room with bad lighting, so the dark wall color made it feel like a cave. The white walls already make it feel twice as big.

I'm still waiting for paint to dry and it will possibly need another coat on a few areas tonight. I'll keep you posted on the room's progress!
